EDWARDIAN MAHOGANY GLAZED  ANTIQUE DISPLAY CABINET ATTRIBUTED TO MAPLE & CO

DESCRIPTION

A very good quality Edwardian fiddle back mahogany bow ended glazed antique display cabinet with delicate chequered and boxwood string inlay attributed to Maple & Co. The cabinet has astragal moulding to the door, and stands on square tapering legs and spade feet and it also has a lower shelf. The cabinet has a working lock and key, and inside has two more shelves.

The interior has been re-lined in an ivory coloured fabric.

Established in 1841, Maple & Co were British furniture manufacturers who found success in the late Victorian and Edwardian era, they were based at Tottenham Court Road in London. They produced high quality furniture and supplied furniture to royalty and aristocracy. In 1892 Maple & Co held the title of 'Upholsterers by special appointment to her Majesty Queen Victoria' and in 1910 they were also appointed the same to King George V.
