GEORGIAN ANTIQUE WATERFALL BOOKCASE CABINET ATTRIBUTED TO GILLOWS
DESCRIPTION
A very good quality George IV antique waterfall bookcase cabinet made from tropical Goncalo Alves wood with lovely figuring throughout which has a rosewood appearance to it . This functional piece of furniture has graduating shelves with carved 'c' scroll design, cupboard doors to the base and two drawers with turned wooden knobs. Opening the cupboard doors reveals more storage space with another four drawers each with brass military handles and shelving space to the other side.
The bookcase cabinet has a shaped and carved pediment to the top, reeded moulding and stands on turned bun feet. The door and the drawers retain their original brass locks which also com with a working key. The internal drawers are mahogany and pine lined and the two base drawers are mahogany lined.
This bookcase is attributed to Gillows of Lancaster.

Gillows of Lancaster was founded in 1730 by Robert Gillow who was a cabinet maker from humble beginnings. He had direct access to exotic and top quality imported timber from the West Indies and created the finest quality furniture. In 1757 Robert went in to partnership with his son Richard who was an architect and a good businessmen with ambition who rebuilt the workshops and woodstores. In 1768 Robert I son Robert II joined the family business opening a shop in Oxford Street London. Gillows of Lancaster and London had a renowned reputation for their quality of work and helped furnish many aristocratic houses and are regarded as one of the best British furniture makers of all time.

Small goods will be delivered within a couple of working days which are provided with a tracking number. Large items are delivered by a trustworthy carrier and we aim to deliver within two weeks of purchase but please allow three weeks.
We accept returns within 14 days providing the customer pays for the return and the item is in the same condition we sold it in and it is packaged well.
