Japanese Shibayama Hanging Display Cabinet
A beautiful Japanese Meiji period shibayama antique hanging display cabinet made from dyed maple wood in the shape of a ginger jar with cupboard compartments and shelves. The cabinet is embellished with shibayama technique of inlaid mother of pearl and bone to create pictures of native birds and flowers with applied gesso in relief finished in gold lacquer.
The cabinet is framed in a carved Greek key design with pierced fret work of prunus blossom and it is surmounted with a carved mythical phoenix to the top. Above the sliding doors is a carved thatched (kaya) roof perfect for displaying okimono or this elegant cabinet could simply be used as a decorative piece of art for your wall.

We accept returns within 14 days providing the customer pays for the return and the item is in the same condition we sold it in and it is packaged well.
