A very good quality pair of French late Victorian bronze marly horses beautifully cast with lovely colour and patina after the models by Coustou. Both antique sculptures show horses rearing with a muscular male groom in drapery holding on to the reins in his hands.

Signed to the base - Coustou

The original large size marly horses were scultped by Guillaume Coustou the elder and commissioned by Louis XV of France. They were made from marble and positioned by the trough at the entrance of the Chateau de Marly which are now on show at the Louvre museum in Paris.

We accept returns within 14 days providing the customer pays for the return and the item is in the same condition we sold it in and it is packaged well.
